Weightlifting
Routine Information
Weightlifting, also known as strength training, is a type of physical exercise specializing in the use of resistance to induce muscular contraction which builds the strength, anaerobic endurance, and size of skeletal muscles. It is a common fitness routine for building muscle and increasing overall strength. A typical weightlifting routine often involves targeting different muscle groups on different days to allow for adequate recovery. For example, one might dedicate a day to upper body, another to lower body, and a third to full body or a different split. Exercises commonly include squats, deadlifts, bench presses, overhead presses, rows, and bicep curls, performed with barbells, dumbbells, or resistance machines. The number of sets and repetitions varies depending on the goal, with lower reps and higher weight for strength, and higher reps and moderate weight for hypertrophy (muscle growth).
